Team Manager- Brent Armour

At 42, Brent has spent over two decades on the stand, shearing full-time for 21 years and competing around 25. A long-time supporter and active member of SSNSW, Brent is passionate about both the industry and the competition side of shearing. This marks his second time as part of Team NSW.

Open Shearers

  • One of NSW’s most decorated competitors, having represented the state 17 times, claiming 7 national titles along the way. A 24-time Australian team member, he added another highlight to his career by taking out the top individual in the Trans-tasman at the Golden Shears 2025. When he’s not on the board, Daniel juggles life as a shearer, AWI Shearing coach, part time farmer - and a professional fisherman.

  • With 20 years of shearing under his belt, Jeremy runs his own operation, Newberry Shearing, based around the Guyra region. A long time contributor to the sport - former Chairman of SSNSW for two years. This will be Jeremy’s fourth time representing NSW colours.

  • From Barraba, with 11 years on the handpiece and 9 years of on and off competing. Known for his dry sense of humour and constant cheek, he keeps the team laughing wherever he goes. This marks his third time representing NSW - and he’ll likely remind you of that with a grin.

Open Wool Handlers

  • From Gilgrandra,. Rach is a twelve time NSW champ, multiple Australian titles, six-time World Champs - She’s one of NSW’s most decorated woolhandlers and a role model for many. (Give or take - she doesn’t keep count). Rach loves travelling with her family to compete. Rach is excited to head to SA to compete, especially alongside her idol and friend Eileen.

  • From Yeoval - A proud woolhandler who’s represented WA, NSW, and Australia. Last competed for NSW in Perth 2007. Now back in action. Thanks to her son Jack for reigniting the fire!

  • From Dubbo, Tammy brings 12 years of experience in the industry and 7 years competing under her belt, Tammy is no stranger to the scene, this marks her 4th year proudly representing NSW. Off the board, she keeps things running as the current Secretary of SSA.

Senior Shearers

  •  From Wellington. Shearing for nearly 9 years. First year competing. Proud to be representing NSW for the first time.

  • Based in Uralla, originally from Kingston, Jaread is proud to be making his debut for NSW in Jamestown

  • From Yeoval, Started woolhandling in 2020 and competing in 2023. At 19, he’s already won in NZ, represented the AWI Team, and claimed the 2025 NSW Senior title. Off to his first Nationals in Jamestown!

  • From Boorowa. From the sheds to the state stage, this year marks Kimberly’s first time representing NSW!

Senior Wool Handlers

  • From Tooraweenah, Blake has previously represented NSW in the Novice 2 years ago. Proud to be representing again.

  • From Boorowa. Jacob has been shearing for 9 years, 2025 marks his first time representing. Proud to take the next step in his shearing journey.

Intermediate Shearers

  • From Koorawatha, one of the young guns on the scene. In his first year competing, he is proudly representing NSW.

  •  At just 17, Henry is one of the youngest on the team. He started learning to shear around the age of 10, and has been shearing full time since October 2024. After beginning his competition journey in early 2024, he’s now set to represent NSW for the first time!

Novice Shearers

  • From Guyra, Been in the sheds 18 months and already making moves, first time competing at state level and second year on the competition circuit.

  • From Glen Innes. Jordan enjoys time in the sheds and making memories. Passionate about the shearing lifestyle, and good times that com with it!

Novice Wool Handlers

Blade Shearers

  • At 30 years old, from Howlong - Nicki has been in the industry for 11 years, shearing for the past 8. This is her 3rd time pulling on the NSW colours - and she’s no stranger to big achievements. In December 2024, Nicki smashed the eight hour Merino lamb shearing record, cementing her name in the history books.

  • At 27, Jake has been machine shearing for 8 years and took up the blades 5 years ago. This is his second year competing in the blade shearing circuit - and his second time proudly representing NSW.

Shearing Judges

  • A familiar face around the board, Nick has been NSW’s Head Shearing Judge for a total of 4 years, before being re-elected. He’s also been a southern shearing judge for 2 years, and has judged shearing competitions on and off for many more. A former Open-class competition shearer, Nick brings a wealth of experience and precision to the board.

  •  Hailing from Dubbo, Mac has been part of the SS scene since 2001, first as a competitor and for the past 8 years as a shearing judge. Off the board, mac is a wool classer and a registered Nurse, often spending her free time at shearing comps across the country.

  • One of the most experienced members of SSNSW, she’s represented NSW as both a Woolhandling Judge and Manager over the years. A Mum of four - and many more through the teams she supports, Penny brings a wealth of knowledge and guidance wherever she goes. By day, Penny works as an AWI instructor, helping shape the next generation of industry talent.

  • From Forbes, Brad has been in the wool game since he was 18, earning his Master Classer’s stencil in 2011. He began judging woolhandling competitions in 2012 and hasn’t stopped since! With experience judging at multiple National events.
